In the opposite direction to the Pont de l’Île-d’Orléans: more than $ 2,000 fines for a drunk driver

A young motorist who was circulating at a speed three times higher than the permitted limit, in the opposite direction and in drink on Île-d’Orléans, paid dearly for his driving deviation.

The incredible event occurred in the night of August 16 to 17, when police intercepted the 18 -year -old driver driving at 150 km/h on the bridge that connects the island to Quebec. The limit is 50 km/h.

The motorist was even traveling against the wrong way when he had two passengers on board 18 and 17 years.

“The driver was arrested for driving with alcohol -weakened capacities as well as for dangerous driving,” said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) by press release.

His great speed earned him a fine of $ 1911 as well as 18 points of incapacity. But, as he faced zero tolerance for alcohol driving, because of his age, another fine of $ 520 and four points of incapacity were given to him.

In total, his driving license was suspended for a period of 97 days and his vehicle was seized for a month.

“It is thanks to the professionalism and the vigilance of the police that this intervention took place,” said the SQ.
