Firefighters of the American West Coast strive to contain, on the night of Thursday to Friday, August 8, vegetation fires which quickly spread in southern California, forcing local authorities to order the evacuation of thousands of people.
Called Canyon Fire by the authorities, the fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in the county of Ventura, a mountainous region located a hundred kilometers northwest of Los Angeles. He ravaged within a few hours 2,000 hectares of vegetation straddling the counties of Los Angeles and Ventura, according to the latest assessment on Friday morning of the department of forests and fire protection from California, Cal Fire, main service to fight against fires.
A dozen areas, in which thousands of people live, are affected by evacuation orders, due to this fire which “Propagates quickly to the east”underlines Cal Fire on his website, explaining that he threatens the electric lines and certain “Communities”.
No house affected for the time being
At least 2,700 inhabitants had to leave their homes at the last count, Thursday at 11 p.m. on Thursday (8 a.m. on Friday, in Paris), the French-Party Fireman’s Firefighter spokesman Andrew Dowd said on Friday. The firefighters of the two counties concerned “Work actively [sur] a long -term strategy to contain and extinguish fire ”also underlined the Department of Forests and Fire Protection of California.
For the time being, no one has been injured or any affected dwelling, the firefighters of the County of Los Angeles on Friday morning. “It is strongly recommended that residents follow the authorities’ instructions (…) and immediately evacuate when requested ”advised the emergency services of the county of Ventura.
The Canyon Fire extends in southern California when several other fires are already ravaging the region.
