The introduction of individual taxation creates new inequalities, said an interpartis alliance on Thursday. The center, the PEV, the UDC and the UDF launched the referendum against what they describe as a “tax deception” on Thursday.
(Keystone-ATS) The Parliament supported in June the initiative of PLR women and the counter-project of the Federal Council for individual taxation. These projects aim to correct the “criminalization of marriage”.
But for the alliance, this imposition “is not fair”. It leads to new injustices for families and the middle class.
“Married couples having only one income or very different income would be significantly more taxed than couples with two similar income,” said the Alliance. Families, single people and the middle class are the most affected. On the other hand, double -income households that earn their lives well would benefit.
Parties also criticize a bureaucratic monster. Married couples should complete two statements. Administrations should deal with 1.7 million additional declarations.
The discrimination of married couples can be eliminated without completely changing the system. Several cantons have already proven that such a correction is possible without resorting to individual taxation.
