The Elysée responds firmly to Benyamin Netanyahu. The French presidency denounced, Tuesday, August 19, the accusation of the Israeli Prime Minister, who affirmed a little earlier in the day than Emmanuel Macron’s desire to recognize the Palestinian State fueled the rise of anti -Semitism in France. A qualified declaration of“wrong” et “Abject” by the Elysée. This accusation of Israel “will not remain unanswered”can also be read in the press release published Tuesday evening, which reaffirms that “The Republic will always protect and protect its compatriots from Jewish confession. The period requires gravity and responsibility, not amalgams and manipulations.”

“Your call to a Palestinian state feeds anti -Semitic fire”, Benyamin Netanyahu wrote in an official letter addressed to the head of state made public on Tuesday. “This rewards the terror of Hamas, strengthens Hamas’ refusal to release hostages, encourages those who threaten French Jews and promotes the hatred of Jews who now prowl in your streets”says the head of the Israeli government, when the President of the Republic said at the end of July that he would officially recognize the State of Palestine in September at the United Nations General Assembly.

In his letter, Benyamin Netanyahu claims Emmanuel Macron toact before September 23. “I call you to replace weakness with action, appeasement by will, and to do so before a clear date: the new Jewish year, September 23, 2025”continues this mail dated Sunday and transmitted Tuesday to AFP.

“I am concerned about the alarming rise in anti -Semitism in France and by the lack of decisive actions of your government to deal with it. In recent years, anti -Semitism has ravaged French cities (…) Since your public statements attacking Israel and signaling the recognition of a Palestinian state, it has increased”still writes Benyamin Netanyahu, who has been carrying out a war in Gaza for almost two years. He evokes “A campaign of intimidation, vandalism and violence against the Jews across Europe”, judging it “Intensified” under the mandate of Emmanuel Macron.

Before the Elysée’s response, the Minister responsible for Europe had already reacted to the charges of Benyamin Netanyahu. France has “No lessons to be received in the fight against anti -Semitism”retorted Benjamin Haddad on BFMTV. “I would like to say in a very clear and very firm way that this subject of anti-Semitism which poisons our European societies-and we have seen an acceleration of violent anti-Semitic acts since the attacks of Hamas of October 7-, we cannot instrumentalize it”said the minister, who assured that the French authorities have “always been extremely mobilized” against this scourge.
