Faced with temperatures that should reach 43 ° C, the Athens Ministry of Labor prohibits all professional activities that would take place outdoors between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The Greek ministry of labor suspended on Tuesday outdoor work in several regions due to temperatures that could reach 43 ° C in the country.
Because of “temperatures and particularly high discomfort levels”, outdoor work was prohibited Tuesday from 12 noon to 5 p.m. in many regions, the ministry announced in a statement.
The suspension of outdoor work concerns in particular construction sites and public works, naval repair areas, as well as delivery services in several regions including Athens and tourist destinations such as the Ionian and Rhodes Islands (South-East).
New obligations in France

Temperatures could reach 40 ° C in Athens and Thessaloniki on Tuesday, with planned peaks of 43 ° C in the center of Greece.
Thursday, the capital could record a maximum temperature of 41 ° C, said Emy.
In France, a decree applied since July 1 requires employers for workers’ protection provisions, graduated according to the vigilance levels set by Météo-France.
This decree requires some provisions to “adapt the schedules, suspend the painful tasks during the warmest hours, better adjust the rest periods”.
