“It’s so typical of Nintendo”, this famous Mario game receives an upgrade on Switch 2 and the players feel scammed

While waiting for the Switch 2 catalog to be garnished, Nintendo offers updates of former titles of the first console, improved versions. Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom have for example received a pure update in terms of graphics and performance.

However, with the Switch 2 version of Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo offers a new extension with new modes. A paid update even for those who have the original game. However, players believe that it is clearly not worth it.

An update that is not up to

One of the major new features of the Jamboree Switch 2 version is the addition of new modes that use mouse games, microphone and a compatible USB-C camera (and of course performance improvements to make the most of the console).

When you launch the game on the last console, you have three options: Super Mario Party Jamboree, TV jam, or Gameshare. By choosing Super Mario Party Jamboree, you simply find yourself in front of the Switch 1 version, without major change. And this is the problem for the players, who, as we remind you, paid for this upgrade.

The players are very angry

On social networks, notably Reddit, the community was quick to share its discontent. As the Super Mario Party Jamboree mode points out is not even a Switch 2 version. It keeps exactly the same graphics and performance as the Switch 1 version, the improvements being exclusive to Jamboree TV.

The Tv Jamboree update for Super Mario Party Jamboree is a real bazaar.

When you buy the upgrade pack, the game is actually divided into three modes, accessible from the main menu:

– Super Mario Party Jamboree (literally the basic game without change)
– Jamboree TV
– GameShare

It seems logical and clear, right? Well, not at all. In reality, the “Super Mario Party Jamboree” mode is not updated at all: resolution remains blocked at 720p in portable mode and 1080p in Docké mode.

All new content and visual improvements are only available in Jamboree TV mode.

It is very confusing, because you can play Mario Party “Vanilla” in the Jamboree TV mode with improved graphics, but you will not have access to pro rules or other contents of the basic game like Koopa Run. To do this, you must launch the non-improvement mode Super Mario Party Jamboree.

As it is for the moment the most expensive upgrade ever released on Switch 2, many say that they will simply buy it.

  • “This update is catastrophic for the longevity of online game matchmaking.” – Linkmaa
  • “It’s really stupid, even for Nintendo.” — sergeant-keroro
  • “It’s so typical of Nintendo, that. Be careful, I love Nintendo-in my eyes, it is by far the best AAA developer. No other AAA studio equals the constant quality of their games. But at the same time, Nintendo is also filled with strange decisions like this. This is exactly the kind of thing I expect from them.” – Sjoerd93
  • “I find it frankly absurd for a paid upgrade, especially when other First-Party games have received free visual improvements on the Switch 2.” – Anirkdream
