JBL seems to market several new Bluetooth speakers in Europe. Indeed, after the little JBL GIP, it is the turn of the JBL BOOMBOX 4 to enter the Chinese market. Evolution of the Boombox 3, marketed three years ago, it identifies itself as the new most imposing portable speaker in the brand’s catalog (excluding Partybox range).

Connectivity aurat, audio without loss via USB-C and extended autonomy
Unsurprisingly, this new iteration benefits from improvements similar to those brought at the load 6, freshly renewed in 2025. It is first adorned with a new 5.4 Bluetooth receiver compatible Auracast. Beyond universal audio sharing applications, the Boombox 4 uses this technology as a audio chaining protocol (synchronization with other JBL speakers and stereo coupling) to replace Partyboost.
Abandoning the USB-A port and the 3.5 mm mini-jack input for the benefit of a single USB-C port, the Boombox 4 connection was also purified. Note that the USB-C is reserved for wired loss-free diffusion, knowing that the speaker always incorporates a sector plug dedicated to recharge.
On the battery side, JBL announces an autonomy of 28 hours for a full load, 4 hours more than the Boombox 3. We can also count on the Playtime Boost mode, which reduces the level of the bass in order to extend its autonomy to 34 h.
Sound architecture Revue, Ai Sound Boost and Bass Boost Mode
According to the information available, the Boombox 4 also seems to have a brand new sound architecture. It is indeed on two 12 cm woofers and two 1.9 cm tweeters reinforced by three passive radiators, one of which is placed inside the chassis. We can then expect more extension in the bass compared to the Boombox 3, which was content with a single woofer and a pair of lateral passive radiators. The total amplification power is announced at 210 W, against 180 W for its elder.
The Boombox 4 also benefits from the new AI Sound Boost algorithm, supposed to allow it to keep a balanced sound signature at high volume. In addition, it is equipped with a new Bass Boost button adjustable on several levels, as well as an control interface divided into two parts.
If the Boombox 4 retains the shape, aesthetics and dimensions of its elder, it stands out for its reduced weight at 5.89 kg (against 6.7 kg) and IP68 certification offering it better resistance to elements. The transport handle seems wider than before and more harmoniously integrated on the top of the speaker.
Already available at a price of 3,999 yuan ($ 557) in China, the JBL Boombox 4 has not yet been formalized in France. Given this rate, it should not present a significant price increase compared to the Boombox 3 launched at € 580.
