Sunday, August 17 at 6.30 p.m., firefighters were informed of a forest fire which broke out on the crest line located between the municipalities of Villards-d’Héria and Moirans-en-Montagne at a place called La Tête d’Henry IV, a point culminating between the two municipalities. The smoke, visible for miles around, had been noticed by many residents of the sector. The operations to fight this fire, which currently extends over 2 ha, are underway.
A total of fifty firefighters are mobilized, around forty of which is at the fire in a place inaccessible to vehicles. This is why the work of the fire soldiers is currently taking pipes over 500 meters up. Six forest fire trucks are positioned around the fire.
A fire deemed little virulent
Given the weather conditions (not or little wind and temperature of 20 ° C), the fire is currently considered not very virulent. A recognition helicopter flies over the fire. Around 9:30 p.m., Grégoire Long, mayor of Moirans-en-Montagne, Marie-Christine Dalloz, deputy and departmental councilor, Mickaël Marillier, first deputy mayor of Villards-d’Héria, and the ONF manager of the sector were present at the Operations Command Operations position in Villards-d’Heria, alongside the Deputy Director of SDIS 39. No information has been given concerning the origin of the fire. “The sector is frequented by hikers,” said Grégoire Long. Finally, elected officials would have requested the confinement of the inhabitants. This last information was not confirmed to us.
