Faced with plastic pollution, expectations was large around the negotiations that were held this week in Geneva. The discussions were ultimately led to any international agreement on the reduction of plastic production. In almost fifty years, the consumption of the latter has multiplied by 100. And according to projections of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), it should reach 1.2 billion tonnes in 2060 (compared to 2 million in 1950).

If the industry is pointed out in this problem, in Switzerland some companies have taken the question to offer solutions to reduce the impact of plastic. This is particularly the case of Bloom BioreNewables, born 2019, which develops alternative products to petroleum derivatives, resulting from the use of non -food biomass (vegetable or animal organic materials which are not used for human food). They are used in particular for plastic production, with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
