The Hôtel des Innovations (HDI) will open on October 15 on the Marly Innovation Center website. The establishment will then become the largest hotel in the canton in Friborg, with 167 rooms and apartments. Three ice hockey teams participating in the 2026 World Cup will be there.

(Keystone-ATS) The building, unveiled this week in Marly, is in the form of a 12 -story tower over 40 meters. With 50 million francs invested, the HDI should relaunch the offer in the Grand Friborg and in Sarine, knowing that the NH Hotel and the Hotel Park, in Friborg, and the My Hotel, in Givisiez, closed over time.

Next May, during the world ice hockey championship in Zurich and Friborg, the new establishment, sporting four stars and managed by an independent company, will house three teams in the running in Friborg. But, above all, he will host the Swiss Center for Skills in the Execution of Criminal Sanctions (CSCSP).

A third of nights

The latter, installed for the time being in Friborg and which trains the employees working in the prisons of all Switzerland to reduce the risk of recurrence, will assure the hotel near a third of its nights, thanks to the people who will come to train on the banks of Gérine from January 2026.

The Hotel des Innovations aims at 30,000 nights per year. It relies on three types of customers: companies having to house employees or visitors, seminars and events as well as tour operators. The MIC has developed in an industrial zone of 370,000 m2 which belonged to Ciba Geigy and Ilford.

The center chaired by the businessman Damien Piller, active in real estate and the media, now houses 800 jobs. In addition, the Marly Innovation Center includes some 600 dwellings, housing more than 1000 inhabitants. It forms an ecosystem and is one of the largest technological campuses in Switzerland.
