I find that the criticisms addressed in the press to Madame President Karin Keller-Sutter, inappropriate, exaggerated, result from a total lack of solidarity and knowledge from the people who participated in the negotiations in recent months. I will not mention any names at this stage, leaving readers to make an opinion.
International trade has existed for centuries and it is not a world in which it is always easy to go from success to success. This requires solid experience, knowledge of international regulations. Trade is above all based on supply and demand.
What are the quality American products likely to interest the Swiss market? This is the first question that American exporters should ask themselves. Trump has decided to reshuffle certain conditions for the United States to regain economic prosperity and he tackled the customs prices. Great good. Dictatorially, as if he were alone in the world, he made his decisions. Some of his advisers also do not seem to be up to par.
Madame von der Leyen has managed to master the situation while wiping out certain criticisms, such as that of Mr. Attali, who claims that Europe has set up before Mr. Trump. Today, the president of the European Commission seems rather to have been great. Bravo to her!
Let us not be shown. Trump will still make more beautiful. But when he has exhausted his share of failed inventions, his voters, who have elected him, will join a large part of the world, which already, today, has taken that it will take several decades in the United States to fill the ditches that their current president will have created.
In the meantime, I wish Madam President Karin Keller-Sutter a lot of courage. The road is sometimes long, but at the end there is always the light.
