LLB: profitability continues to erode in the first half

The operating product gained 10.5% to 312.8 million francs, while the related costs swelled from 15.5% to 204.6 million, says LLB. Net profit climbed 0.9% to 91 million.

The Liechtensteinische Landesbank (LLB) bank saw its profitability continue to erode in the first half, the cost/income ratio from 65.2% to 65.7%. Its operating product, however, has grown clearly, while massive influx of fresh money have been recorded.

The operating product gained 10.5% to 312.8 million francs, while the related costs swelled from 15.5% to 204.6 million, LLB said in a statement published on Wednesday. Net profit climbed 0.9% to 91 million.

Fresh silver influx have almost doubled, leaping from 75.8% to 1.4 billion. The two market divisions contributed to this significant increase, specifies the bank.

In the field of trading, the widening of the interest rate difference between the franc and, in particular, the US dollar had a positive effect on the group. The increased activity of customers also contributed in a favorable way to the result.

The result of interest operations, however, decreased by 6.8%, to 63.1 million, affected by the drop in interest rates.

For the entire year 2025, the LLB group continues to count on a consolidated result lower than that of the previous year. “This forecast is mainly explained by the significant decrease in interest rates, in particular in the Swiss franc zone, where a return to negative interest rates is no longer excluded, as well as by punctual integration costs linked to the acquisition of ZKB Österreich”. Geopolitical and economic uncertainties should also persist, according to him.

By 2026, it is still aimed at growth of more than 3% annually for fresh money influx and loans to customers. The cost/income ratio must not exceed 65% and the rail equity ratio must be over 16%.
