No less than 50 firefighters of numerous barracks in the department (1) were mobilized to fight a fire which broke out on Wednesday, around 9 p.m., Routes des Cascades, a hamlet located in the town of Champoly.
For an indefinite reason, the fire took in an old 250 m² residential house transformed into a storage place. This building was completely destroyed and the flames spread to a 200 m² room located right next to it and which housed several hundred rabbits.
No water nearby
The second building also left for smoke while rabbits perished in the fire. The firefighters concentrated their efforts to prevent the flames from spreading to other housing houses that adjoined the buildings on fire.
An operation made difficult by the lack of water nearby. The firefighters therefore set up Norias to get water. Around midnight, the firefighters had made himself masters of the fire.
This Thursday morning, two fire vans and an airline were still on site to perfect the extinction.
