Two days, two victories. Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) confirmed, Tuesday, July 29, her superiority over massive sprints by winning in Poitiers during the fourth stage of the Tour de France women 2025. Less than twenty-four hours after her success in Angers, the 26-year-old Dutchman, carrier of the green jersey of the point classification, once again was ahead of her compatriot Marianne Bike), which nevertheless retains the yellow jersey.
The race, part of Saumur (Maine-et-Loire) in the direction of Poitiers, was first marked by a breakaway of two runners. After several unsuccessful attempts, the German Franziska Koch (Picnic-Postnl), already present in the escapes during three stages, and the Brazilian Ana Vitoria Magalhaes (Movistar) managed to take off for more than 70 kilometers at the front of the race. The German, particularly active, was designated for the second time running the “most combative of the day”. But the sprinters’ teams maintained the difference under control and the breakaway was taken over four kilometers from the finish.
The finale, in a rolled flat, once again smiled at the leader in the green jersey ranking. Well taken by its world team champion Lotte Kopecky, Lorena Wiebes launched her sprint 200 meters away and resisted the return of Marianne Vos. Second for the second consecutive day, the latter retains the leader’s tunic thanks to the accumulated bonifications during the different stages. She is now ahead of Lorena Wiebes 12 seconds. Half Vollering (FDJ-Suez), a big favorite and victim of a heavy fall the day before, reassured by finishing in the main peloton without showing a sign of embarrassment to the left knee.
In the middle of a course swept by the side wind, several borders saw the peloton during the stage. Many runners had to fight to return to the yellow jersey group. The favorites were able to stay in front and conceded any time. Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, in search of a first victory on the Tour, now points to fourth row of the general, 18 seconds from Marianne Vos, her partner at Visma-Lease in Bike.
The fifth stage, Wednesday, will lead the runners from Poitiers to Limoges over 140 kilometers. An arrival on the coast which should this time promote the Plchants and offer a first direct confrontation between the favorites in the fight for the final victory.
