Only a week after the test disputed at the Vallée-Jonction Chaudière Autodrome, the NASCAR Canada series presents its star event of the season this weekend, the Trois-Rivières Grand Prix. On the occasion of this 55ᵉ edition of the GP3R, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and the whole Dumoulin Competition team will be before their supporters to try to collect a third victory in NASCAR Canada on this temporary urban circuit.
“After two consecutive podiums in July, the race on the Vallée-Jonction Chaudière Autodrome did not turn in our favor. From the tests, a transmission seal began to flee and, in the race, it was a new concern for transmission which forced me to return to the paddock for a repair which cost us about fifteen laps ”confides Louis-Philippe Dumoulin about this race last Saturday on the oval track, where he ranked thirteenth.
Now place at the highly anticipated Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières. For the Triple Champion of Nascar Canada: “Harvest a third victory at this event behind the steering wheel of the car nº47 Weathertech Canada | Bellemare group | Omnifab is my main objective. But the GP3R remains a difficult race, with many vagaries. Sometimes the test takes place without the slightest yellow flag and it is a real sprint, sometimes there is so much neutralization that the final classification becomes a bit of a lottery. You have to know how to adapt to all situations but the crowd is really enthusiastic, the fans are so passionate about the GP3R, that it is always an exceptional experience for us pilots than to evolve at this event ”.
Louis-Philippe Dumoulin is the local favorite, he who is with his brother Jean-François (who will also be on the track in Nascar Canada with the car nº04 of Dumoulin competition) native of Trois-Rivières. “In addition to Sunday’s race, we invite all the fans to come to the parade in the city center and then the exhibition at the port of Trois-Rivières, Thursday at the start of the evening. Friday, the team trailers will be open in the afternoon and I invite the public to come and meet us. Nascar’s paddocks are always warm and spectators, adults and children, are welcome, ”says Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
“We want to play the rest of the season in force. The GP3R marks the start of the second half of the season, everything is still possible to seek victories and finish very well placed in the championship. It is so competitive in the series that the slightest concern in a race makes you lose one or two places in the championship but nothing is lost for us, ”concludes the Trifluvian driver, who is currently fifth in the championship, just 17 points from the front row.
The Nascar Canada pilots will be on the track on Saturday from noon, for 70 minutes of free tests. The qualification will take place the same day, from 4:50 p.m. Sunday, the departure of the 60 -round race will be given at 1:18 p.m.
