Louis Sarkozy, son of the former President of the Republic and columnist for LCI and Current valuescreated a campaign financing association. This “Association for the financing of the electoral campaign of the list led by Louis Sarkozy for the municipal elections of March 2026 in Menton” (Alpes-Maritimes) was declared on August 11 to the prefecture of the department, according to an announcement published Tuesday August 19 at Official Journal of Associations.
The 28-year-old columnist, who bought a pied-à-terre in the city of 30,000 inhabitants at the start of the summer where the current right-wing majority is strongly threatened by the National Rally (RN), has still not officially announced its candidacy.
Louis Sarkozy said in May that his decision was “Not taken”. “Between the RN and LFI, like any French common sense, I would vote for the RN, but I do not believe in this party, I am wary of many of their promises that I find exaggerated”he then explained during a signing session in this seaside resort of the Côte d’Azur.
Close to LR, the current mayor of Menton, Yves Juhel, whose assessment is criticized and which is the subject of a judicial investigation for embezzlement in port management, then declared itself open to any alliance likely to block the RN route.
In June 2024, the deputy Alexandra Masson (RN) was re -elected in the first round in the constituency, with 55.6 % of the votes to Menton itself.
