Lyon. These two large Auchan supermarkets will be sold in Lidl, here

The famous Auchan brand, plagued by important financial difficulties, is preparing to sell several of its points of sale in France. Through a press release released this Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the group announced in fact yield 19 of his supermarkets to a behemoth of discount. Among the points of sale concerned by this transfer project, two are located in Lyon. Here is which one.

A assignment hoped for by the end of the year

Within the press release, Auchan specifies that these are the supermarkets of Lyon – Duchère (9th) and Lyon-United States (8th). The latter should thus be taken over by Lidl, the German food distribution channel, with which Auchan is engaged in “exclusive negotiations”.

Several scenarios have been studied: rental-management, franchise or sale. It is this last option that was deemed most relevant to guarantee the sustainability of the exploitation and preserve associated jobs, in a spirit of responsibility and continuity of activity.

However, nothing is yet official. “The transfer project in Lidl was presented to the representative bodies of Auchan staff this Wednesday, July 16 and will be subject to authorization Competition authorities, “said the two entities, adding, however, that the finalization of the operation” could take place by the end of the last quarter of 2025 “.

Towards a continuity of employment?

Regarding jobs, no figures have been announced on the number of employees concerned by these transfers. The management of Auchan, however, ensures to ensure ” continuity jobs ”.

Despite the loss of these two Lyon supermarkets, Auchan therefore retains, for the moment, its 15 other points of sale in the Rhône department.
