Madonna urges Pope Leo XIV to go to Gaza

The American star asked the Pope on Monday to go to Gaza on Monday and to “bring his light to the children before it was too late”, in a message published on his social networks.

“As a mother, the best gift I can make (to my son Rocco, for their birthday) is to ask everyone to make their best to save the innocent children taken between two fires in Gaza,” Monday wrote Monday, very affected by the situation in the Palestinian enclave, on her social networks. The POP icon also implored Pope Leo XIV to go to Gaza and “bring his light to the children before it was too late”.

The latter is according to her “the only one of us to whom we cannot refuse the entry” in Gaza, adding that “there is no more time”, because the territory is ravaged by a “massive famine” of human origin, in the words of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The singer raised in the Catholic faith then specified: “I do not try to accuse anyone, nor to take sides. Everyone suffers. I simply try to do what I can to prevent these children from starving.”

Last week, the United Nations Childhood Agency (UNICEF) said on X that “more than 18,000 children had been killed in Gaza in the last 22 months”. Or, on average, “28 children – the equivalent of a classroom – killed per day” in Gaza.

Since his accession to the throne last May, Pope Léon XIV has continued to go up to the niche to call for a cease-fire in Gaza, claim the return of the hostages detained and criticize the Israeli bombardments on the territory. “I am with great concern the disastrous humanitarian situation in Gaza, where the civilian population suffers from extreme hunger and remains exposed to violence and death, said the sovereign pontif. I renew my sincere call to a cease-fire, the liberation of hostages and full respect for humanitarian law.”

According to ABC, the Vatican has not yet commented on the publication of the American star.
