(London) Madonna urged the pope to go to Gaza and “bring (his) light to children before it was too late”.
La Mégavedette published its call to the Sovereign Pontiff on social networks on Monday, explaining that the anniversary of his son Rocco had prompted him to publish this message. Rocco was 25 years old on Monday.
Addressing Pope Léon XIV, she wrote: “Very holy Father. Please go to Gaza and bring your light to the children before it is too late. As a mother, I cannot bear to see their suffering. »»
“The children of the world belong to everyone. You are the only one of us to whom we cannot refuse entry, she added. We need the doors of humanitarian aid to be opened to save these innocent children. There is no time. »»
The singer added that she was not taking part in the war.
“I’m not trying to accuse anyone or take sides. Everyone suffers. Including mothers of the hostages, she argued. I pray so that they are also released. I just try to do my best to prevent these children from starving. »»
The Pope recently renewed his call for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, asking the international community to respect humanitarian law and the obligation to protect civilians.

“I call once again in the immediate end of the barbarism of this war and a peaceful resolution of the conflict,” said the Pope last month.
The humanitarian workers and doctors said that after months of Israeli blockade and disturbances in the distribution of supplies, children of Gaza without medical history are beginning to die of malnutrition.
The Israeli air and terrestrial offensive, launched by the attack on Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023, moved most of the two million Palestinians in Gaza and plunged the territory into famine.
The United Nations said that more than 5,000 children were diagnosed as malnutrition in Gaza in May, although this figure is probably underestimated.
Malnutrition was practically nonexistent before the war. Doctors struggle to treat children, because many supplies are exhausted, according to the UN.
Israel denies the existence of a famine or that children die of hunger. The country claims to have provided enough food throughout the war and accuses Hamas of having caused shortages by flying aid and trying to control the food distribution.
