Shark, ballist or line?
According to the first hypotheses, not yet confirmed by the authorities, the injury may have been imposed by a shark Blue, a species that sometimes approaches the ribs, specifies the “Crónica Balear”.
The marine animal in question could also be a ballist, a “biting” fish living in the sand and known for its territorial character. For its part, the Palma Aquarium Foundation, interviewed by our Spanish colleagues, assumes that it could be a line because of the shape of the injury, without marks of exposed teeth.
Research in jet ski in the area did not allow us to find the mysterious assailant. The beach was therefore reopened and the swimming permitted under strict surveillance. According to local media, small fish bites have already been reported to Mallorca, but still benign.
