Mark Carney’s office says research is “well advanced” to find a local district office for the Canadian Prime Minister who meets his security requirements.
As reported byOttawa Citizen
This week, Mr. Carney still does not have a district office in his constituency of Nepeanmore than 100 days after the spring elections.
The process aimed at confirming an office that meets all safety requirements, which is well located and accessible to voters, is well advanced
assured Emily WilliamsDirector of Relations with the Prime Minister’s Cabinet, in an email response.
She said that while waiting for the local office, residents of Nepean Can access federal services through the office of the Minister of Defense, David McGuinty, located in the neighboring district of Ottawa-Sud.
Mark Carneyof which the electoral campaign office had been installed in an office park in the suburbs of Nepean, will be the last member of his own cabinet to register a local district office in the directory of the House of Commons.
The district offices are a kind of gateway to democratic bodies, allowing residents to communicate with their local elected officials.
MPs employ local staff in these offices, which can help citizens find their way in the government bureaucracy to access federal services.
