Member of the Top 10, Rodriguez abandons

The Ineos Grenadiers team announced that its leader Carlos Rodriguez would not take the start of the 18th stage of the Tour de France, because it suffers from a fracture at the basin.

The fall under the red flame on the arrival of the 17th stage of the Tour de France on Wednesday in Valence did damage! While Cyril Barthe was the victim of a concussion and will not be able to start this Thursday and that Biniam Girmay suffers from the wrist (without fracture) and expects to suffer enormously during the next two days, it is Carlos Rodriguez who is forced to abandon. The Ineos Grenadiers team has announced that its leader will not be able to start the 18th stage, because it suffers from a fracture at the basin. “Carlos is in a good mood and remains under the close surveillance of our medical team. He will now go home to focus on his recovery and the rehabilitation process”specifies the British training. It is a big hard blow for ineos grenadiers, because Carlos Rodriguez (24 years old) occupied 10th place in the general classification, 20’45 from Tadej Pogacar (and 5th place in the ranking of the best young, 11’42 from Florian Lipowitz). The best Spanish runner of this large 2025 loop could perhaps take advantage of the two big mountain stages to come to win a few places in the standings, even if it would have taken to resume three minutes in Ben Healy and almost four in Tobias Johannessen.

Jegat takes advantage of it

In the past two years, Carlos Rodriguez had been able to finish fifth (by winning a stage) then seventh in the Tour de France. This year, he had the best result of an 11th place in Superbagnères, 3’15 from his teammate Thymen Arensman, who became the most classified runner of Ineos Grenadiers (13th). After having finished 6th in the Tour de Valence and the Tour de Romandie, and 9th in the Critérium du Dauphiné this season, Carlos Rodriguez is forced to rest forced, after 45 days of competition, and nothing says that he will be able to use this season. The misfortune of some making others happy, the French Jordan Jegat takes the place of 10th in the general classification, at 23,10 of Pogacar. With Kevin Vauquelin (6th), there are two French people in the top 10, four stages from the Champs-Elysées.
