Message edition finally arrives between Android and iPhone

Android and iOS users can now communicate with RCS, which advantageously replaces aging SMS. But if the basic functions are present on the two platforms, there are still others to be implemented like the edition of the messages after having sent them. Google is precisely testing this possibility.

SMS has had its time: since Apple opened the way in the format RCS After years the foot on the brake, the standard has established itself. The assets are there: photos and videos in high resolution, accused of reading, striking indicators, group messaging … but all the functions are not there between iOS and Android.

The RCS site is progressing

Android users can thus take advantage of the messages for a year after sending their sending, but only between them. It is a function implemented by Google solo, it was not one of the official RCS specifications. And Apple supports the standard 2.4 profile of the Standard, which does not include edition of messages.

This will change as soon as everyone supports the 3.0 profile of the RCS specification: he adds end -to -end encryption, which Apple is committed to integrate, as well as the edition of messages. Google is precisely testing this novelty. Several users of Android smartphones report the possibility of editing messages sent to iPhone.

For the moment, everyone is not entitled to it, and this remains only in the Android direction to iPhone. It is necessary to wait until Apple implements version 3.0 of the profile so that iPhone users can modify the messages sent on Android. And then this care remains quite rustic: the original messages continue to appear, while the edited messages are reported by an asterisk.

But all the same, we can only rejoice in the progression of this project.
