(Washington) Donald Trump announced Thursday that he had agreed with his Mexican counterpart Claudia Sheinbaum to extend customs duties currently imposed on Mexican products, while he threatened to bring surcharge to 30 %.
“We agreed to extend, over a period of 90 days, the same agreement we had on the last short period,” said the American president on his Truth Social network. This amounts to maintaining customs duties on incoming products in the United States outside the North American Free Trade Agreement (ACEUM) and specific customs duties on automotive, steel and aluminum duties at 25 %.
Donald Trump argued that Mexico would remove its “non -tariff trade barriers”, without providing details.
