As the manufacturer explains, the fault is in the Broadcom chips of the BCM5820X series. These are very widespread components in recent Dell laptops. Vulnerability is very dangerous since it affects the Controlvault3 function, a secure storage system for passwords and biometric data.
A flaw with very worrying consequences
In all, five flaws were identified under the following references:
- CVE-2025-24311
- CVE-2025-25215
- CVE-2025-24922
- CVE-2025-25050
- CVE-2025-24919
The fact that the flaw is under multiple therefore aggravates the risks of attack on the PCs concerned. For example, faults allow attackers to steal sensitive data and execute malicious remote code. The stored passwords are no longer secure, hence the concerns around this vulnerability.
Dell spoke in the columns of The Register About this fault: “In collaboration with our firmware supplier, we have solved the problems quickly and transparently disclosed the vulnerabilities reported in accordance with our policy of response to vulnerabilities.”
Here are the Dell PCs affected by the security fault
It was on June 13 that Dell spoke for the first time of these flaws, but the complete details were only shared recently. The American manufacturer recommends that users install the latest security updates to protect their laptop from possible attacks.
For those concerned, it is possible to access the download link via the DELL support document under the reference DSA-25-053. There is the full list of all the laptops affected with the versions concerned and the detailed information on the fixes at this address.
