Nestlé Waters says this Thursday, July 3, has set up a microfiltration system in accordance with the authorities’ requests. The Gard prefect still has until August 7 to decide on the authorization to operate drilling for natural mineral water.
On May 7, the Gard Prefect had given Nestlé Waters for two months to comply and withdraw the microfiltration system at 0.2 micron which had been installed in 2023 as part of a large site transformation plan. A stay for the Gard industrial site plunged into the eye of the cyclone since January 2024.
This Thursday, July 3, the management of Nestlé Waters was delighted, through a press release, to have “Cut an important step in its commitment to guarantee the sustainability of its Vergèze site and its natural mineral water brand Perrier”.
The company says that “The microfiltration system for the natural mineral water brand source Perrier has been adapted. A new microfiltration device at 0.45 Micron was thus implemented in accordance with exchanges with the health authorities. The health security of all the water bottled on the site continues to be guaranteed.”

In addition, the Prefect of Gard left until August 7 to say “The investigation of requesting renewal of the authorization to operate boreholes intended for the manufacture of natural mineral water “.
Nestlé Waters, for her part, said “Determined to continue to produce natural mineral water on the Vergèze site. In this perspective, the Vergèze site will file a new body for the operating water for natural mineral water.”
The company finally plans to invest 25 million euros over 5 years in order to protect the water resource “Following the recommendations made by hydrogeologists approved in their report on drilling dedicated to the production of Source Perrier. Concretely, this approach results in actions aimed at preserving biodiversity, protecting soil and improving the quality of aquatic ecosystems”.
