Minimum wage: how is Quebec compared to other provinces

As saying saying saying: comparing yourself is to console yourself. But does the adage apply when compared to the Quebec minimum wage to that of other Canadian provinces and territories? Here’s how Quebec ranks.

Currently, Quebec is in the third position of the provinces which offer the best minimum wage in Canada, although the province is preparing to be downgraded next October by Nova Scotia.

On the other hand, if we add to this ranking the three Canadian territories, Quebec falls to cut the pear in two in 6th position.

Here is an overview of current minimum wages, according to the Government of Canada website:

1– Nunavut: $ 19.00 (since January 2024)
2– Yukon: $ 17.94 (since April 2025)
3– British Columbia: $ 17.85 (since June 2025)
4– Ontario: $ 17.20 (since October 2024)

It will increase at $ 17.60 from October 1, 2025.

5– Northwest territories: $ 16.70 (since September 2024)
6– Quebec: $ 16.10 (since May 2025)
7– Prince Edward Island: $ 16.00 (since October 2024)

It will increase to $ 16.50 on October 1, 2025.

8– Newfoundland and Labrador: $ 16.00 (since April 2025)
9– Manitoba: $ 15.80 (since October 2024)

It will increase to $ 16.00 on October 1, 2025.

10- Nova Scotia: $ 15.70 (since April 2025)

It will increase to $ 16.50 from October 2025, declaring Quebec in 3rd position.

11– New Brunswick: $ 15.65 (since April 2025)
12– Saskatchewan: $ 15.00 (since October 2024)

It will increase to $ 15.35 from October 1, 2025.

13– Alberta: $ 15.00 (since June 2019)
