Summer is well installed and this week’s weather will play towers. We will move from a summer atmosphere to episodes of thunderstorms that will come upset our daily lives, illustrating a deterioration in weather conditions. All this is the result of the action of several systems, such as the ocean wind and the anticyclone of the Azores.
Generalities and time influences
At the beginning of the week, a west wind of oceanic origin will win on most of the country. This phenomenon will bring a busy sky and will slightly lower temperatures, thus bringing them back to the usual values of the season. From Monday to Wednesday, we can expect a summer atmosphere with a few scattered clouds and showers.
From Thursday, the anticyclone of the Azores is gradually strengthening. Temperatures will go up clearly, culminating towards the end of the week with temperatures exceeding normal. However, this climb will be accompanied by growing instability, announcing thunderstorms for the weekend.
Detailed forecasts per day
Mardi
You will have a typically summer time, although relatively cloudy. In the east, the risk of thunderstorms diminish to make room for a variable sky. A wind from the ocean will continue to lower temperatures, with gusts up to 60 to 70 km/h near the Channel.
Wednesday
The weather will be capricious and cooler, especially towards the Mediterranean where the wind will be felt forcefully. A depression passing through the British islands and Germany will influence the center and the northeast of the country, bringing a very cloudy sky and some waves. The Mistral and the Tramontane will blow hard (gusts up to 80 km/h), which could promote some fire starts.
THURSDAY
In the south, the good weather will appear hands down with a generous sun. Temperatures will climb to 35°C In the afternoon on the southeast side. On the other hand, from the north of the Loire to the Grand Est, the sky will remain fairly busy, and some showers could appear on the side of the English Channel as well as on the Belgian and German borders.
Friday
We enter the heat under a slightly veiled sky all over the country. An Atlantic disturbance could trigger a stormy trend in the west. In the morning, expect temperatures between 12°C in the Ardennes and 23°C near the Mediterranean. Then, in the afternoon, the heat will be there and the thermometers will climb to 36°C south of the Garonne.
Weekend in perspective
Saturday July 19
The weekend starts on a stormy and heavy note, due to a disturbance arrived Friday from the West. In the afternoon, violent thunderstorms planned are expected, extending from the Pyrenees to the eastern borders. These thunderstorms could be quite violent, with hail and strong gusts of wind. On the Mediterranean side, a sea wind will bring more clouds, while a few rains will be felt near the sleeve.
Sunday July 20
The risk of strong thunderstorms remains, and temperatures should drop everywhere. To the north, a disturbance from Great Britain will maintain an unstable weather with a few showers, while between the Pyrenees and the Eastern borders, the stormy atmosphere will remain present.
In the end, the week promises to be full of twists and turns, between stifling heat and thunderstorms that do not be tamed. This reminds us of adapting our outings to the strong disturbances and remaining vigilant, especially if the storm is invited on weekends.
