After almost three decades of political engagement in Montreux, of which almost fifteen years at the MunicipalityJacqueline Pellet bows out. The socialist municipal election has announced that it will not request a new term in the 2026 elections.
The elected representative in charge of social cohesion, families and youth since 2011 leaves behind “a substantial heritage” in the development of social infrastructure in the commune, recalls a press release from the Montreux-Veytaux Socialist Party (PSM). Its action is part of the continuity of socialist commitment to Montreux, where the party intends to keep its majority position within the executive.
Jacqueline Pellet’s assessment is characterized in particular by a major expansion of children’s reception structures. During its mandates, the municipal offer has more than tripled with the creation of reception units for schoolchildren in Chernex and Glion, and the opening of nurseries in the Bonnettes, Vergers 14 and the city center. She also established noon receptions for schoolchildren, previously non -existent.
Who to succeed him to the municipality of Montreux?
Among his achievements is also the “Jaman 8” neighborhood house, created in 2014 as a multicultural and intergenerational space in Clarens. Its commitment to social housing has resulted in the requirement to integrate at least 20% of public utility housing in new real estate projects.
While Jacqueline Pellet will carry out her last year of mandate, the PSM has already launched the succession process. The internal applications are open until the end of the summer, and the party will announce its full ticket in mid-October, with the already acted renewal of Irina Gote and the trustee Olivier Gfeller.
