More endurance, more power, more elegance: the promises of the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2

A few days before the next UNPACKED from Samsung, which will without the shadow of a doubt the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Xiaomi precedes its competitor and formalizes, in China, the new iteration of its smartphone with a valve. It is indeed necessary to hope that the fold in the middle of the slab has gained in discretion, which Xiaomi assures by evoking a “Ultra-flat fold certification”. A little bigger, the Flip 2 mix is ​​also a little heavier than the flip mix: it goes from 192 to 199 g. Too bad. however, that IP certification (waterproofing) is still not mentioned and that, in its Chinese version at least, the smartphone is not compatible with ESIM.

Behind its new rectangular chassis. the Mix Flip 2 hides the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip that Xiaomi associates with the latest version of its cooling system and more endurance, more power, more 12 or 16 GB of RAM. If it is as effective as the brand claims. we can hope that the smartphone is enjoying good autonomy, especially since its battery (silicon-carbon) displays a capacity of 5165 mAh (4780 mAh for the Flip mix). Let us add that the manufacturer completes its wired load at 67 W by a wireless load at 50 W. which was lacking in its first valve model.

An ultra-angle rather than a telephoto lens

A final change was made. this time at the photo block of the smartphone, still co-designed with Leica. If it retains the same appearance. relies on two 50 megapixel sensors, the first being decreased with a large angle (f/1.7), the second is supplemented by an ultra-angle (f/2.2). Xiaomi therefore revised his copy. preferred to abandon the telephoto of the flip mix in favor of a focal length equivalent to 14 mm.

The Mix Flip 2 runs under Hyperos 2. with its usual IA functions, and is available in versions 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB and 16 GB/1 TO (UFS 4.1). We find it in mauve, golden beige, white and green, with different finishes depending on the colors. Count a starting price of 5,999 yuan (around € 715), identical to that of the Flip mix, sold € 1,299. We can therefore hope that it is marketed in Europe at a similar price in a few months.
