Nascar Canada: Mechanical concerns slow down the ambitions of Kevin Lacroix, 10th at GP3R

Tuesday August 12, 2025 by Philippe Brasseur

Still among the favorites at the Trois-Rivières Grand Prix in recent years, Kevin Lacroix has lived a much more discreet, even arduous weekend, than in the past during this 2025 edition. The St-Eustache pilot had to be satisfied with a 10ᵉ place in the race, driving the Chevrolet nº74 Napa Racing.

From the qualifications, Lacroix had to compose with a capricious engine, limiting its usual rhythm on the famous urban circuit. Qualified in 6ᵉ position, far from the usual positions to which we used to see it, he knew that he should bet on the strategy to make his way forward.

Unfortunately, a risky bet came to complicate things. While the majority of pilots went through the wells during the neutralization of the 9ᵉ round, his team decided to leave Kevin on the track. If the event had taken another turn, with less neutralization, often endless, the bet may have paid to finish in the top 5. This was not the case.

With an engine that struggled to deliver all his power, he had no choice but to adopt a defensive approach, protecting his position without being able to attack as usual. “It is certain that it is not the expected result, especially here in Trois-Rivières, which is an important event for me” explains Kevin Lacroix.

“We have been hampered by mechanical troubles and a strategy that has not played in our favor. Under these conditions, the objective was to reach the arrival and score points, ”explained Kevin. Despite this performance below expectations, Kevin Lacroix intends to bounce back in the next rounds to target the podium again, especially at the Icar complex, a track where he has always collected great results.

With its 10ᵉ place at the GP3R, Lacroix is now fifth in the pilot championship, at 18 points (279 to 261) from the leader who is again Marc-Antoine Camirand. DJ Kennington is second with 276 points, Andrew Ranger has 272 and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin is 4ᵉ with 263.
