A majority of Canadians (63%) want Mark Carney to adopt the line to have a lot of line in negotiations with Donald Trump by “refusing difficult concessions”, even if it poisons the commercial relationship with the United States more.

Conversely, only 37% of respondents at the most recent survey of the Angus Reid Foundation prefer a softer approach, even if it means making difficult concessions so as not to alienate the American giant.
The responses differ greatly between the voters of the Canada Conservative Party who prefer the gentle method and voters (generally) liberal, blquists and neo-democrats who promote intransigence.

A smaller number of them provides that the upcoming agreement will be advantageous for Canada simply because in their eyes, Donald Trump is a bad negotiator that often folds.
One point, however, is almost unanimous: 84% of Canadians judge that Donald Trump does not negotiate in good faith.
