Road works in Neuchâtel
An important site starts to modernize the western entrance
The Philippe-Godet quay and the adjacent streets will be under construction from July 7 to the end of August. The project notably provides for the addition of cycle bands.
Sanitation works will start on July 7 on the Quai Philippe-Godet, the alley William-Mayor and the rue de la Place-d’Armmes in Neuchâtel, according to a press release from the canton of Neuchâtel, published this Tuesday. The Ponts et Chaussées service and the Federal Road Office (OFROU) will repair roadmoices until the end of August.
These highway axes, where up to 21,000 vehicles per day, have not been maintained since 1994. The works, coordinated with the city, will also create two cycle entrances at the western entrance to Neuchâtel.
New bike bands and reinforced security
The redevelopment provides for the abolition of double tracks reserved for motorized traffic to integrate cycle strips on both sides of the roadway. The cyclists entering and leaving the city from the west currently do not have any dedicated space. New light fires will be installed at the bottom of the William-Mayor alley to secure the entire pedestrian crossing.
Interventions on the rue de la Place-d’Armes and the William-Mayor alley will be carried out mainly at night, with traffic management by security agents. On the Philippe-Godet quay, the work will take place essentially by day while maintaining traffic in both directions. The Ponts et Chaussées and OFROU service ask the users and users as well as residents and residents to comply with the temporary signaling that will be set up.
