Why should you look at it? Before knowing one of the biggest successes of 2024 with Love phewGilles Lellouche had tried the staging with The big bathcomedy that looked like the actor’s whim wanting to prove his value behind the camera. Inevitably, the actor brought a beautiful troupe of comrades there (Canet, Poelvoorde, Amalric, Anglade, Efira, Bekhti …), whose capacities he exploits wonderfully.
More The big bath is much more than a film of actorsand rests on an astonishing balance between his humor and the melancholy of his desperate characters. Lellouche knows how to linger on everyone’s disorders in this choral energy which allows this thin team to rebuild itself in the collective and self -esteem. If the director will abuse very (too much?) Style effects in Love phewwe already saw in his first feature film his desire to do well, to carefully compose the plans and camera movements filled with symbols (window shapes, for example, which define the characters they encapsulate). In Redoubling of inventiveness and glitter In his realization, the Australian filmmaker resuscitates all the feverish passion that lived in the singer, and the one that his groupies devoted to him.
