“We provide a service, but we do not take any costs,” said Lucas Fridez, co-founder of Strap’npay, the “Cashless” payment company committed to the medieval this weekend, following the complaints of certain taverniers and visitors. These did not always understand the system, moaned not to be able to be reimbursed in cash on site or simply did not appreciate the idea of the “cashless” in this context.
“We have given everything to make it going well,” explains Lucas Fridez, having provided a presence of the company on site and the provision of explanatory flyers. All the details have been sent to the organization. “The information has a priori been given with each entry by volunteers or Strap’npay staff,” says Mélanie Bianchini, communications manager for medieval.
“Regarding costs, this is a reservoir of 5% applied to companies, not to craftsmen. It is temporarily taken by the organization to cover real banking costs, between 1.5% and 2.5%”, explains Lucas Fridez. The costs covered by the companies, well informed during sessions, specifies Ephrem Theurillat, head of the medieval accounting. According to him, most taverniers are satisfied with the system. The committee does not know if the experience will be repeated in two years. The choice will come back to companies.
