The Mushebere health area, attached to the Birambizo health zone, in the Ratshuru territory, in North Kivu, is going through a deep crisis. Devoid of means, this structure is struggling to provide the slightest medical service for a population already weakened by precariousness and insecurity.
“We lack everything: no inputs, no essential drugs, no support from partners”, alert ahadi Uwihoreye PitiĂ©, nurse holder of the center.
According to him, only a few basic products such as paracetamol are available, making it impossible to handle patients.
The situation, which has been deteriorating for several years, forces patients to be transferred to the Mwesso hospital, located in the neighboring territory of Masisi. A long and expensive journey, often inaccessible for the inhabitants of Mushebere.
“The patients we receive are on an outpatient. In the absence of means, we can do nothing here ”, deplore the nurse.
In a region where insecurity already complicates access to care, this local health crisis jeopardizes the lives of hundreds of people. Help calls are multiplying, but remain unanswered for the moment.
