This is usually one of the most loaded days of the year for help and this July 14, 2025 held all its promises, for the hundreds of firefighters deployed or on alert in Marseille yesterday. The battalion has indeed recorded no less than 585 interventions in 24 hours, against an average, over the year, of 330 per day – although this figure tends to increase, especially since the heat wave of recent weeks.
Very numerous interventions but not “dimensioning”
If the night, above all, was agitated, up to the surroundings of 2 a.m., with multiple departures of vegetation fire, in particular linked to fireworks shots, with the ultimately limited consequences, it was the help to person who mobilized the bulk of the means. Nearly 50 firefighters had been deployed preventively on the Old Port, where some 100,000 spectators were massaged to see the fireworks. SDIS 13 firefighters had also been sent to reinforce the firefighters, as a preventive basis.
And despite the endless vehicle and containers, especially in the northern districts, on the side of Frais Vallon or to the south, at La Cayolle, the battalion did not have to fall under “dimensional” intervention or, remarkable for a July 14, damage to its staff.
