Nursing: Insufficient bill according to SSP Friborg

Keystone-SDA

The Friborg Public Services Syndicate (SSP) is dissatisfied with the preliminary draft application law concerning the initiative “for strong nursing”. He challenged the Council of State, wishing the latter to restore working conditions and remuneration at the heart of reflections.

(Keystone-ATS) The bill published on July 7 only deals with the encouragement of training, deplores SSP Friborg. However, “to train more caregivers without improving working conditions and wages is starting the house by the roof”, he denounced Tuesday in a press release.

These two points were however at the heart of the initiative accepted on November 28, 2021 by the people and the cantons, recall the trade unionists. “It is indeed the regarning working conditions and insufficient remuneration that cause the exodus of many caregivers. »»

According to the SSP, creating new training places is therefore “useless” if working conditions and wages are not improved. However, the cantonal executive has refused for several years to engage in this direction, write the trade unionists. The savings measures imposed on the Friborg hospital even lead to the opposite effect, since the endowment will be revised downwards.

Expected catalog

The SSP asked the State Councilor in charge of Health and Social Affairs Philippe Demierre to offer, by the end of the year, a catalog of working conditions and remuneration conditions, with in particular a component allowing to compensate for painful hours (night work as well as weekend and irregular hours).

The union also wishes to be associated with the development and implementation of the various improvements. If no measure is taken by the end of the year, he will offer the Swiss Nurses Association (ASI) and other health organizations to call for a day of mobilization to defend their staff.
