- The NGO Border Forensics reconstructs the chronology of the death of Roger Nzoy Wilhelm, shot down by the police in Morges in August 2021.
- His analysis of the images indicates that the victim was not in a position of attack during the police intervention.
- The emergency services were only lavished after four thirty following the shots.
- The canton of Vaud has recorded sixteen deaths in a police context since 1992.
On August 30, 2021, Roger Nzoy Wilhelm, 37, was shot dead by a police officer at Morges station. This Monday, August 25, 2025, the collective which was formed to shed light on these facts held a press conference at the Théâtre de Vidy in Lausanne. The day before, on Sunday, a 17 -year -old died on a scooter, chased in town by the police. “It is with enormous sadness that we add the name of Marvin to the list of Lausanne victims“, So said Louis Schild, coordinator of the collective, as an introduction.
Two years ago, Nzoy’s family mandated the NGO Border Forensics to analyze the facts. This Monday, the NGO’s conclusions were made public a few weeks after the Cantonal court has enjoined the public prosecutor to start their investigation again.
Self -defense in question in the Nzoy case
Border Forensics, based in Geneva and funded mainly by philanthropy, specializes in 3D visualization techniques to investigate migrant trajectories. In the case of Nzoy, she was able, thanks to the videos and images available in the criminal file, to reconstruct a chronology of the facts this August 30, 2021 at Morges station.
Based on the video of a local resident, the NGO Border Forensics reconstructed the facts of August 30, 2021 in 3D, believing that the hands of Roger Nzoy Wilhelm were open when the policeman was playing him.
Border Forensics
On one of these videos, not exploited by the police, you can see Roger Nzoy Wilhelm walking on the platform, while two agents are behind him, and two others in front. Nzoy had their hands open. “He couldn’t hold a knife at that time. His trajectory and movements do not correspond to an attack posture, explains the researcher Elio Panese. Nzoy was just looking to flee. ” This analysis, explained in a 160 -page report posted on the NGO websitequestion the version of the police, who was that of self -defense.
No first aid given by the police
Once the three shots have been drawn, Nzoy then falls to the ground, according to the images collected. “He has his arms under the body and can hardly move. He was then handcuffed, details the doctor Martin Herrmann, member of the Commission. More than four thirty have gone by without any of the agents making the first aid gestures. It was not until the moment that a nurse in civilian clothes begins to give him a heart massage. ”
The NGO Border Forensics has reconstructed the previous scene the death of Roger Nzoy Wilhelm and presented it on Monday August 25, 2025, alongside the commission which was formed around this case.

For the collective, the criminal investigation would also demonstrate important gaps: certain metadata linked to the images would have been deleted, preventing an exact reconstruction of the facts. Radio communications would also lack in the file. For the family lawyer, Ludovic Tirelli, these new revelations could be decisive while the public prosecutor seeks an independent expert to re -examine the case.
“Having answers is very important so that we can close this file and continue to live,” said the victim’s sister.
Vaud has the most death in a police framework
Beyond the case of Nzoy, the case calls into question the Vaudoise “police police”, the Available (detachment of special police investigations), which is the subject of several arrests in the Grand Council currently.
In the absence of reliable national data, the NGO Border Forensics has also identified Deaths having taken place in a police framework since 1992 in Switzerland. Their database has 83, two or three deaths per year. The canton of Vaud is the deadliest in this area, with sixteen deaths since 1992, which occurred as part of arrests, police custody or prosecution. “A record both in absolute figures and when we lay the figures with the population and the proportion of police forces,” said Stanislas Michel, researcher at Border Forensics.
How to explain this phenomenon? “Being a black man in this country is enough to modify the way in which you perceive,” sums up Getou Musangu, member of the Afro-Swiss collective. Nzoy was seen as a threat when he was in a vulnerability. It is time for institutional racism to be recognized. ” A few hours after his words, the city of Lausanne also denounced the problem after the Discovery of two WhatsApp groups of police officers containing shocking messages.
