Denis Shapovalov’s dream week in Mexico continued on Friday evening.
The Canadian, 33e Global racket, only made a bite of his opponent Adam Walton, eighth seeded, in two identical rounds of 6-2 in the semi-finals of the Los Cabos tournament.
Shapovalov, third seeded, has lost only 12 games since the start of the week and has lost no round.
It will be a ninth final on the ATP circuit for Shapovalov and a second this season, after Dallas, where he won the third title of his career.
To overcome his Australian opponent on Friday, Shapovalov struck seven AS and won 76 % of the points played on his first service.
In comparison, Walton slammed only three aces and earned only 65 % of the points played on its first service.
Shapovalov converted his four BRIS opportunities and he never gave his opponent the opportunity to break him.
In the final, the 26-year-old Canadian will face the American Aleksandar Kovacevic, seventh favorite, who defeated Russian Andrey Rublev, first seeded, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
