After a particularly attractive high -end tablet, OnePlus returns with a new, more affordable pad, in line with its latest launch of mid -range products. On the program: autonomy, elegance and performance. Really ?
It is no longer stopped: the Chinese manufacturer develops on ever more markets and product ranges. The latest: the OnePlus Pad Lite, an affordable and promising tablet.
A design that works
First, design. And the fact that the OnePlus Pad Lite is a compliant copy of the Oppo Pad is, released a few weeks earlier. The proximity of the two brands is known, since they belong to the same group. But we would be tempted to say that it is a simple rebranding as the new OnePlus tablet looks like that of Oppo: the same photo “eye” and even textured band at the top of the device, in addition to a very (too?) Similar technical sheet.
It’s just a detail, you will tell me. And it’s true, because in the end, the tablet is pretty, pleasant in hand and offers – if we do not take into account the Oppo Pad is – A rather original approachlandscape oriented rather than portrait. Quite rare position, on the tablets market.
We will note the 530 grams of the device that are fairly quickly felt, especially during prolonged use. Less than on the OnePlus Pad 3, but all the same. Another point to note: The wide border surrounding the screenwhich only covers 85.3 % of the surface. If this reduces the risk of touching the tactile slab by mistake, it is not very elegant. We feel that we are on the mid -range.
Thought for video streaming
And if the OnePlus Pad Lite embarks only a Full HD+ 11 ” LCD screen (1920 x 1200) – a strategic choice to reduce costs -,, The tablet is still quite bright (500 nits) In most environments, especially indoors. Its 90 Hz refreshment rate ensures good display fluidity.
To this are added four speakers that offer a very satisfactory sound levelof correct quality. Perfect for watching movies, series and YouTube videos, but not ideal for listening to music … At least, not for demanding ears.
Simple and efficient
Entertainment focused, the tablet has a Mediatek Helio G100 processor coupled with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. A slightly light technical sheet, but which, for the use to which the OnePlus Pad Lite is intended, turns out to be up to par.
Moreover, if it responds perfectly for video streaming, the tablet also ensures good fluidity in daily tasks, whether web navigation or office applications. On the other hand, for more greedy tasks, it will not be necessary to count too much on it: its limits appear fairly quickly. But, once again, it is not for this type of use that it is intended.
A photo block… present
Should we really approach the photo part? On tablets, cameras are often anecdotal. They are there to be there, and that’s about it. The OnePlus Pad Lite is no exception to the rule with a back sensor of only 5 MP. Enough to take a picture of a document to share quickly, and that’s it.
Autonomy, its real strength
Let us come to its greatest quality: autonomy. As usual, OnePlus has put small dishes in the big ones at this level. The tablet is equipped with a battery of 9,340 mAh, enough to hold a day. Compatible with 33 W load, it can go from 0 to 100 % in just over an hour. It is not very fast for an OnePlus product, but it can be used during the load.
Small black point all the same: we regret the absence of a microSD card location. We would have appreciated this type of connection which, on the mid -range, still has its place, like the northern OnePlus CE5.
Conclusion
The OnePlus Pad Lite checks many boxes for those looking for an affordable tablet: pleasant design, solid autonomy and fluid experience for daily uses. It lends itself perfectly to streaming, web browsing and light office automation. On the other hand, it will not suit users in search of raw power or quality photo tools. A relevant choice for entertainment at low prices (€ 229), provided you do not aim beyond.
