Orvep: a tool for detecting at risk during pregnancy

As part of this project Called orvep (Tools to identify vulnerabilities in perinatality), the network has developed a questionnaire which he gradually deployed in the region, first in Indre-et-Loire and in Loir-et-Cher in 2023, in Loiret and Eure-et-Loir in 2024, and finally in Cher and Indre this year. This questionnaire, that maternity, PMI, liberal professionals and addictology services offer pregnant women to fill, lets you know if they consume alcohol, tobacco, other psychoactive substances (cocaine, heroine, amphetamines, crack, cannabis …) or drugs that may have repercussion on the course of pregnancy. The final objective is to reduce the risk of maternity-fetal and neonatal complications.

« We try to contact patients if vulnerabilities are identified and to set up support if necessary, explains Emmanuelle Dalaudier, midwife and project manager at the Périnat Center-Val de Loire network. It is necessary, of course, beforehand that the patients have given us their agreement and adhere to the process. The questionnaire of 8 questions initially, focused on addictions, now has 20 to facilitate the communication of professionals with women on subjects sometimes difficult to approach. This less stigmatizing questionnaire leads to stronger membership of women and a greater return of forms. “Few pregnant women have indicated consuming alcohol but we support many patients wishing to start smoking cessation, analyzes Emmanuelle Dalaudier. We also intervene in certain cases of self -medication of antidepressants or analgesics by adapting the treatments. The approach also made it possible to touch the spouses, in particular smokers, and to make them aware of the importance of not exposing their partner and the fetus to passive smoking. “” The Orvep project is now in place throughout the region and we do not release our efforts to increase the screening of potential addictions during pregnancy “Concludes Emmanuelle Dalaudier.
