Paris: Three men arrested for climbing the Eiffel Tower, one of whom managed to parachute

Three men were arrested after climbing the Eiffel Tower, this Saturday in the early morning, one of them having also managed to parachute since the building, Le Parisien from police source learned, confirming information from the JDD.

It was around 5:20 am this Saturday, August 9, when the Eiffel Tower Safety Service contacted the Emergency Call platform (PFAU) to report the intrusion of three individuals, seen climbing the Eiffel Tower, located on the Champ-de-Mars, on the edge of the Seine, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.

A complaint filed

Around 6:40 am, after arriving almost at the top of the building, one of the three men jumped with a parachute. Once on the ground, he was arrested by the police, who arrived on the spot. The other two individuals did not jump and came down with the firefighters, called in reinforcement, from the intervention group in a perilous environment (GRIMP).

The three men, who are not injured, were arrested in the process and placed in police custody in the premises of the police station of the 7th arrondissement for “unauthorized intrusion into a classified or registered building”. According to information from the Parisian, the operating company of the Eiffel Tower filed a complaint.
