From July 15 to 20, 112e Edition of the Tour de France will be in Haute-Garonne and will cross nearly 50 Haut-Garonnaises municipalities during 3 stages:
– Step 11: Toulouse/Toulouse (July 16)
-Step 14: Pau/Luchon-Superbagnères (July 19)
– Step 15: Muret/Carcassonne (July 20)
Haute-Garonne will be the place of flagship stages. The opportunity to highlight its natural riches and the diversity of its landscapes, from the Frontonnais to the Pyrenees, with an arrival at the foot of the tracks of the mountain station of Luchon-Superbagnères.
After 36 years of absence, the arrival of the Tour de France in Superbagnères is again possible thanks to the commitment held by President Sébastien Vincini, with the New bridge built and funded by the Haute-Garonne department (€ 11.7 million). This new bridge on the spike replaces the old dilapidated delight bridges and offers secure road access to the Luchon-Superbagnères station.
On July 19, on the occasion of the arrival of stage 14 of the Tour de France in Luchon-Superbagnères, La Crémaillère Express will be open to the public To access the start point of the stage on the station plateau. The Express rack will operate in maximum gauge, 6,000 people during the day. The road leading to the Superbagnères station will be closed to traffic.
This new Vallean elevator, latest generation, was funded by the department at more than 70 %, or € 19 million over the € 26 million in total cost.
This investment is added to the massive support provided by the department to the Luchon valley.
In addition, more than 120 road agents from the Departmental Council will be mobilized on all stages in Haute-Garonne. They will be distributed over the departmental roads to mark and secure the trace of the races as well as to ensure the safety of the general public on the roadside.
