A new survey is targeting the national rally in Marseille since 2021, on loans of individuals, reveals the world. The billionaire Pierre-Edouard Sterin, close to the reactionary Catholic movement, is one of the lenders and was heard as free suspect last year.
A billionaire at the heart of a politico-judicial affair? A preliminary survey has been open since January 18, 2021 and conducted in the utmost discretion by the Marseille prosecution. It relates to the conditions under which loans aimed at funding electoral campaigns of several candidates for municipal and regional polls have been granted, learned BFMTV from a judicial source, confirming information from the world.
The identity of a man hangs behind these loans, bfmtv learned from a source close to the investigation, again confirming the revelations of the world. They are Pierre-Edouard Sterin, a far-right billionaire and close to the reactionary Catholic movement.
The man was heard on June 11, 2024 as free suspect by investigators in this file, no prosecution is engaged against him at this stage in this procedure.
Several elections concerned
The amount of loans by individuals in which these investigations relate is around 1.8 million euros. These loans funded several major electoral campaigns of the RN: the 2020 municipal elections for Marseille, Nice and Lyon as well as the 2021 regional elections for the PACA, Normandy, Occitanie, and Center Valoire regions.
Among the candidates who have benefited from these loans for their campaigns are Stéphane Ravier, Philippe Vardon or Thierry Mariani.
This investigation, separate from the judicial information carried out in Paris and which led to searches yesterday, however concerns similar facts.
The Marseille survey was extended to offenses of “money laundering” and “illegal exercise of the profession of banker”. It is led by police from the financial crime brigade of the Marseille judicial police.
