Plastic: Bern calls other countries to a “historic” agreement

The automotive market progressed in Switzerland in July, thanks however to a postponement of registrations for the month of June. Since the beginning of the year, the decline has been close to 5%.

During the month under review, 19,629 passenger cars were put into circulation in Switzerland and in the Principality of Liechtenstein, 6.5% more over one year, according to the self-Swiss press release on Tuesday.

The umbrella, however, nuances this growth, explaining that part of the June registrations could not be treated until the following month, “which has an impact on the monthly comparison”. Since the beginning of the year, the decline has been much greater than in neighboring countries, with a drop of 4.9% for the first seven months, she said.

Market share increase

With 4083 new purely electric vehicles put into circulation in July, the increase reached 18.9% over one year. Their total market share amounts to 20.8%.

If we add the 2406 rechargeable hybrids (+54.9% compared to July 2024), which represent a market share of 12.3%, we obtain a market share of 33.1% for “taking”, a gain of 6.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.

During the first seven months of the year, the market share of vehicles taken among newly registered passenger cars is 31%.
