Basically, it is not already mad love between Ticino and Italians. So when a car registered in Switzerland has an a priori insulting sticker with regard to the Transalpins, everyone goes there with their little comment.

This is what happened at the end of June, after the famous car was seen in the parking lot of a supermarket in Varese, Italy. The tricolor flag, which overlooks the inscription “Vaffanculo” (“Go Fa …”), shocked a place. The latter called on the gendarmerie, which obtained the withdrawal of the controversial sticker, on the grounds that he was insulting towards the State. A crime in Italy.

An almost “patriotic” message

The regional press relayed infamy, and the debate continued on social networks. Some Internet users have seen the reflection of latent tensions between inhabitants on both sides of the border. “He likes this little Swiss to come and go shopping with us, huh?” thus criticized an Italian. In Lugano, an elected representative of the Lega suggested, jokingly, to stop any economic relationship between the two countries, triggering an outcry.

Faced with the storm, the motorist wanted to explain himself in the “Corriere del Ticino” this week and the word of the end is rather unexpected. “I am Italian! I have lived in Switzerland for nine years. I’m not racist! ” According to him, the message of the sticker is even almost patriotic. This hand of the hand, typically Italian, means according to him: “What do you want?” Mix your belongings and don’t get bored! ”. An appeal addressed to anyone looking at the sticker. “And above all, at this stage, to the one who saw fit to call the police!”
