Police deployment for an attempted murder in Jonquière

Saguenay police officers were called upon to move to rue des Saules around 2:45 am on Wednesday morning for a man who got stabbed. The victim is well known to the police. It is the third time in a short time that the police have erected a security perimeter on this street for the same victim, the last event dating back last February.

A command post has been deployed to collect information from the population.

Broan control points have also been implemented aware of the night at the entrances and outings of the city to try to locate one or more suspects, but they were raised in the morning so as not to harm traffic.

Around 10 a.m., police numbers were still on site to monitor the scene and try to find clues. The drone was even released and a command post is also deployed. Investigators in judicial identity joined them at the end of the morning in order to analyze the crime scene. They seemed to look for something in the bushes around the victim’s residence.

SPS spokesperson Luc Tardif said that the police will meet many people in the neighborhood on Wednesday, in order to have more information on the event and ask to see the surveillance cameras.

He also asked for the help of the population in this file. If you have information or images related to this event, you are invited to call the Saguenay police service at 418 699-6000 or to go directly to the command post.

The SPS does not currently confirm that this event has a link with the armed conflict that has been raging in the region for several months.

SPS spokesperson Luc Tardif indicates that the sector is now under control and secure.

“We don’t know for the moment. We have not yet had the opportunity to discuss with the victim, priority is his health, “said Luc Tardif.

The SPS mentions that the event is under control and that the sector is safe for the population.

The police will remain on the spot a good part of the day. Around 12 noon, there were no new developments and no suspects arrested.

Out of danger

Investigators seemed to look for something in the bushes around the victim's residence.

Police were also seen at Jonquière hospital on Wednesday morning. It is because of the assault, the man was able to take his vehicle and go to the hospital center. The agents therefore found his vehicle on the scene.

As for the state of health of the victim, Luc Tardif indicates that she has suffered serious injuries, but that she is now out of danger.
