Possible Lock-out of Air Canada: Travel agencies are overwhelmed

This is the battlement in travel agencies, which must answer a high number of customer calls that arise a thousand and one questions about Air Canada’s conflict.

Agencies contacted by The newspaper Hundreds of customers who will leave Quebec or who will return from a foreign country aboard a flight from Air Canada soon.

At Groupe Voyage Québec, the teams have been mobilized for several days already and the agency is continuously in contact with Air Canada leaders in order to assess all the options.

“We have deployed a crisis cell, I have a lot of employees working on this. Priority is our passengers, ”insists its president, Laurent Plourde.

Call customers

The objective is to call each customer who may be affected by the lockout, first to inform him and then to find solutions.

“We try to establish a plan A, a plan B, a plan C,” says the manager.

Constellation travel advisers in Montreal are also at work.

“There are a lot of worried people. What is difficult to manage is uncertainty, ”says Moscow Côté, owner of the company.

What complicates the situation is that, Wednesday afternoon, there was still no officially canceled theft and that most of the reimbursements or compensation apply during a cancellation.

Patience

Depending on the destination and the protective plan, it is best to be patient before canceling a trip.

Camille Bergeron, advisor at Voyages Aqua Terra Lévis-Québec, has been answering her share of questions for a few days.

“What we recommend to customers is really to wait for the airline’s conditions because yes, there are appeals and [la] Possibility to have better flexibility, ”she says.

If the conflict was settled in the coming hours, a few files would still remain on the table, but the worst would be avoided.
