Biologists from the Granby Zoo begin a preservation mission affecting brown bats in Estrie.

According to Radio-Canadathese biologists solicit public aid in order to find colonies of this type of bat, an air insectivore to preserve, according to the scientific coordinator Louis Lazure.

Municipalities and MRCs of Estrie have decided to participate in this project, including Sherbrooke and the MRC of Haut-Saint-François.

People who discover one or more brown bats must communicate with the zoo and it is recommended to avoid interacting with brown bats.

Specialists will consider the implementation of cohabitation measures.

Note that bats can carry rabies and a low percentage of them carry the disease.
